PlayStation is apparently hiring a Director of Corporate Development to help the company identify potential acquisition opportunities. This comes in the wake of news that Xbox has been looking for a Manager of Gaming Strategy and Development in order to identify some of its own potential acquisition opportunities. The parent companies of Xbox and PlayStation, Microsoft and Sony, recently attracted attention for purchasing Activision Blizzard and Bungie, respectively.

“Sony Interactive Entertainment seeks a highly qualified Director of Corporate Development,” the job listing reads. “Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Corporate Development Team works closely with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Management Team and is responsible for identifying inorganic growth opportunities through acquisitions, investments, or joint ventures. The team sources, evaluates, and completes transactions that are aligned with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s strategic priorities and drive significant long-term value for the company.”
In addition to spearheading the process of corporate consolidation, the new hire is apparently going to be overseeing some of the first-party studios at PlayStation. “This is a high profile and exciting role with significant executive exposure,” the job listing notes. Whoever accepts the position will be offered “unique opportunities at the convergence of the global media and technology industries and a chance to influence the evolution of this fast paced sector.”
The duties include working with “senior executives and other internal partners to continuously refine the major strategic themes” at PlayStation,
