Sony has announced its latest acquisition, with yet another developer joining PlayStation Studios. The news follows several recent acquisitions, as PlayStation Studios is acquiring Bungie, along with many of the developers of the Destiny series, God of War co-developer Valkriye Entertainment, and Firesprite Studios as a studio that will make VR games.
Today, March 21, Sony announced Haven Studios has been acquired, making it the latest developer under the PlayStation umbrella. Haven is a Montreal-based studio that was founded by Jade Raymond, one of the creators of the Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs franchises. PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst has announced on the official PlayStation Blog that the team will be working on a AAA multiplayer game for PC and PlayStation systems, based on an original IP. Raymond described the game as having a "systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years."

It seems that PlayStation Studios is making a push for multiplayer games with these new acquisitions, as Bungie is working on live-service games for PlayStation systems. Sony already has some impressive first-party studios that are developing single-player titles, with the past year seeing the release of games like Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal.
