Elden Ring is currently one of the most highly rated games of all time, having just lost the top spot to Super Mario Oydssey. Still, it enjoyed its time on top while it lasted. However, even a near-perfect game is still going to launch with some bugs. Unfortunately, some players are suspecting that weapons that scale with Arcane and any other attribute may be bugged.
In a recent post on Reddit, one user wrote, "If a weapon is not pure physical and it has arcane as one of its scalings, it will have 0 scaling instead." This supposed bug even affects the physical scaling of the weapon, effectively nerfing it into near uselessness, as it will only have its base stats and ignore your attributes.

Other Reddit users have been corroborating this, noting that "the clinging bone was doing worse than my claws while I had decent Dex/Arc." Another wrote, "Managed to scale a cliff on a beach with Torrent and found the Regalia of Eochaid way too early. No wonder it wasn't doing any more damage after pumping levels into Arcane."
If this bug is real, it isn't entirely game-breaking as there are many weapons for you to choose from. It does, however, mean players who wanted to do an Arcane hybrid build are going to be having a tough time against most enemies, as their weapon will only do more damage if it's upgraded. I'm glad I restarted and switched to a pure Strength build now.
Fortunately, FromSoftware is quick to patch bugs and glitches, having already noted it is working on fixing performance issues with Elden Ring. That being said, we do hope they leave some of the more fun glitches in, like the ones that allow you to skip whole areas.
