It looks like someone in China managed to snap photos of Nvidia's next-generation PC graphics card, the RTX 4090.
An anonymous user posted two photos on a forum site run by Chinese tech giant Baidu that show an upcoming RTX 4090 model. The post on Baidu Tieba has since been deleted(Opens in a new window), but not before the images went viral in the tech media press and on social media.
The first image seems to show the RTX 4090 models at a Chinese manufacturing site for GPU vendor Zotac. Visually, the product stands out for its rounded corners, instead of the angular straight edges found in Zotac’s earlier RTX 3090 models(Opens in a new window).
The card itself also looks quite thick and includes a sizable metal heat sink. The new design may suggest Nvidia is using a revamped cooling system for what is expected to be the company’s most powerful desktop gaming GPU yet.
The second image shows the English-language product packaging for the Zotac RTX 4090. It gives a view of the front side to the card, which reveals three fans and the rounded edges on the corners. Rumors(Opens in a new window) add that the card will feature 16384 CUDA cores, or nearly 6,000 more than the RTX 3090. It will also supposedly feature 24GB of RAM, but with a TDP at 450 watts, the equivalent of an RTX 3090 Ti.
The images signal that the RTX 4090 is close to release. Nvidia is teasing it’ll talk about the RTX 4000 series during the company’s virtual GTC event, which is scheduled for Sept. 19-22. Stay tuned for our coverage.
