In the latest development post on Steam, Phasmophobia creator Kinetic Games has recently revealed a roadmap containing the updates that have come to pass, as well as the updates that are being planned. Given the major impact the game has had on the indie horror scene, there is a vested interest to see things improve, and no doubt fans are keen to pay witness to whatever ideas the team has in store for the future. One of those things seems to suggest that the studio is looking to make the game even scarier.
There have already been a number of changes since the game came out in 2020. The most recent Phasmophobia update added a custom difficulty feature and another map. Technically, it wasn't a completely new map as it was more of a rework of the Asylum, which is the game's biggest level. Some fans have complained that this area in particular is a little too big, and the latest patch has scaled it back slightly, taking it from 80 rooms to 70.

The patches that have rolled out for Phasmophobia have really made noticeable differences to the game, and Kinetic is eager to make additional progress going forward. One idea that's being bandied around is what's being referred to by the developer as «Horror 2.0.» This appears to be an upcoming change to one of the game's key aspects, namely the ghosts. At some point, an update will be going live which will rework the models for each spectral being, as well as adding new events, sounds, and pretty much anything else the developer can think of in order to scare players even more.
