Family comedies are getting a bizarre twist with I Love My Dad. Patton Oswalt stars in the film as a single father desperate to reconnect with his son by catfishing him as a beautiful young waitress, only for his secret to be put at risk when his son wants to take a road trip with his dad to meet the woman.
James Morosini, who wrote and directed the comedy film, leads the cast of I Love My Dad alongside Oswalt, Claudia Sulewski, Rachel Dratch, Lil Rel Howery, Ricky Velez and Amy Landecker.

Ahead of the film's theatrical premiere, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with star Patton Oswalt (who also produced the project) and star Claudia Sulewski to discuss I Love My Dad, their first reactions to the film's wild script and more.

Claudia Sulewski: For starters, it was the fastest read of my life, because I think you're just watching this snowball just build larger and larger. I was like, «I need to see how this is gonna get done.» [Laughs] «I need to see how this is going to be shot and edited and executed.» Because James just plays such a fine line; finding where that line is and not crossing it, and I think that's what makes a script so interesting. I was just so happy to be a part of it.
Patton Oswalt: Exactly what Claudia said. There are those scripts that you read where you go, «As a audience member, I would want to watch this. How are they going to do this?» So, if me being in it helps it get made?
