The first weekly reset of The War Within brought with it new content for players to enjoy, but one major feature seems to be missing: Patron Work Orders, the newest source of Profession Knowledge Points, aren't appearing for many players — and if they are, no Knowledge Points are being offered.
Patron Work Orders in The War Within
Patron Work Orders, also known as NPC Work Orders, have been newly added in The War Within to serve as the primary method of Knowledge Point acquisition for Crafting Professions. Players will be offered several orders per week, all with different rewards: some will grant Artisan's Acuity, others grant optional crafting reagents to assist in creating high-quality goods.
Most, however, should offer Glimmers and Flickers of knowledge — up to 15 Knowledge Points total per week, as per The War Within Beta. Simply create the required crafted item the same way you would a Public or Personal Work Order, and the rewards are yours.
Many players have noticed, however, that their Patron Work Orders aren't offering Glimmers or Flickers of Knowledge — if the orders even appear at all.
Despite having leveled Professions well into the 70+ Skill range, players have not been given Patron Orders, and relogging, refreshing, and leaving and returning to Dornogal don't seem to fix the issue.
For now, this appears to be bugged: Blizzard announced that with the weekly reset, Profession Sparks and Profession Weekly Knowledge should be available, which should logically include Patron Work Orders. While Blizzard is regularly releasing hotfixes to address bugs in The War Within, only time will tell when this feature will be workable — stay tuned, Crafters.
