Blizzard continues their tradition of amazing art with the key art for Patch 9.2: Eternity's End. The Patch 9.1 key art showed us Anduin blocking our way into the Sanctum of Domination with the shadow of the Jailer looming over him, a foreshadowing of the peril that awaits in the Sepulcher of the First Ones.
This time we see our final challenge, Zovaal, the Jailer, pulling off his very best Lich King 2.0 look. The contrast between Anduin's angry, fiery environment in his painting couldn't contrast more starkly with Zovaal's blue setting.
Where Anduin protects the Sanctum from us, the Sepulcher behind the Jailer seems to be in peril; it needs us to save it. In both pieces, a weapon is part of the focus, but while Anduin seems to be barely able to hold the weight of Kingsmourne, the Jailer's weapon almost upstages him as it flies through the air.
In Anduin's piece, passive chains funnel us to Anduin and in turn the Jailer; in Zovaal's piece, the chain is active, flying at us, barring our way. Part mace, part whip, part flail, this weapon, which will drop for us as Gavel of the First Arbiter, seems to have a mind of its own.
Is it a mourne weapon too? And if so, who's soul lives in that wicked place. Your browser does not support the video tag.
