With Overwatch 2 officially launching on October 4 and Overwatch prime's servers shut down, discussion around the sequel is growing. While Overwatch 2 is expected to have a variety of new skins and loot for its players, there are some items being requested more than others, such as diamond wraps for weapons.
Without a doubt, this is going to be an incredibly busy month for Activision Blizzard as the company is working to push out both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2. With so many changes in the works, some fans are hopeful that as both games deserve upgrades, Blizzard will bring more exciting and exclusive cosmetics to Overwatch — especially in its competitive scene.
Overwatch 2 is Getting Rid of SR and Making Other Big Changes to Competitive Play
The original 6v6 matches in Overwatch rewarded its ranked players via Competitive Points, which was one of the in-game currencies alongside Credits. However, Competitive Points could only be spent on gold skins for character weapons, whereas Credits could be used on new Overwatch skins, voice lines, emotes, and more.
With the sequel already confirmed to be making major changes, such as getting rid of Loot Boxes in favor of a Battle Pass, it's time that Blizzard added another tier for weapon skins. If the devs want to go a step beyond, they could even add exclusive cosmetics or skins for heroes that can only be attained after competitive matches. Perhaps taking after Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,Cold War, or Call of Duty Mobile by adding diamond wraps would be the simplest course of action. This would create more coveted skins for weapons, especially since Overwatch prime only offered golden weapons over the course of six years.
