Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England on September 26, 1948 before moving to Melbourne at the age of 5. She began her professional career in the arts at a young age, singing on Australian TV in her teens. Newton-John's star first shone on the pop culture map with her cover of Bob Dylan and George Harrison's song “If Not For You”. The singer's 1973 album Let Me Be There, which served as her US debut, put the spotlight on her talents, earning Newton-John her first Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
