OLED display to grace MacBook Air, iPad Pro in 2024? Here is what leaks say

OLED MacBook Air? OLED iPad Pro? If the newest rumours are to be believed, Apple could be working to bring OLED display on its most popular laptop as well as its highest-end iPad Pro models. Apple currently uses OLED displays on its iPhone models as well as the Apple Watch models. However, an industry insider says that Apple plans to bring OLED display to laptops and its iPad range of tablets, starting sometime in 2024.

“It is looking increasingly likely that Apple will launch a 13.3-inch OLED notebook in 2024 in addition to the 11-inch OLED and 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s. It is expected to be a MacBook Air, but could potentially become a MacBook, MacBook Pro or new category,” says analyst Ross Young, who has had a reliable streak of Apple related leaks.

Adding to this bit of info, Ross goes on to say that Apple will use the tandem stack OLED display technology that is expected to use increase brightness, improve the longevity of the display, and reduce power consumption by around 30%. The OLED displays used by Apple are also likely to have variable refresh rate panels to further improve the efficiency.

Apple had recently unveiled the MacBook Air M2 at the WWDC 2022, marking the debut of the M2 chip. The new model got a display upgrade over the older model in terms of size and brightness but the basic panel tech remains the same. Note that Apple uses the miniLED display on its more expensive 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, as well as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro M1.
