Fans of the Final Fantasy series have been eagerly awaiting more news about the upcoming second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The first part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which debuted in April 2020, quickly became one of the fastest selling games for the PlayStation 4, while the expanded PlayStation 5 release Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade also sold and reviewed well. While the official Remake Twitter did not have any news to share, it did take the time to celebrate an important anniversary of a fellow Square Enix franchise.
Kingdom Hearts, another major Square Enix franchise, celebrated its 20th anniversary on March 28. 20 years ago, the first gamewas released in Japan for the PlayStation 2, with a Western release following in the fall of the same year. Since then, there have been two more main series Kingdom Hearts games released, as well as a myriad of spinoff titles including the card battler Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, the mobile title Kingdom Hearts Union X, and the rhythm game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. The series has become popular for its unique combination of original characters and settings with those from classic Disney films and Final Fantasy games.
