Square Enix and Xbox have announced that the popular RPG Octopath Traveler 2 will be heading to Xbox and Windows early next year. The HD-2D RPG has already sold over four million copies on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch since February. Our very own Eric Van Allen scored Octopath Traveler 2 a 9 for its lively world, engaging combat, and fluid progression.
It’s worth noting that while the announcement reveals Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Windows, it’s already out on PC via Steam.
Here’s the announcement trailer for the RPG coming to Xbox and Windows:
A couple of months ago Phil Spencer made an appearance at Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest. It was here that he and director Naoki Yoshida revealed the MMO was headed to Xbox. I had a feeling we’d see more titles making their way to the Xbox, and it seems Octopath Traveler 2 will be one of the first.
I’m all for seeing games come to as many platforms as possible, especially high-quality ones like OT2. In fact, the original Octopath Traveler was actually on Xbox Game Pass for a period of time. I know several people who tried it for the first time on Game Pass only for it to become one of their favorite RPGs.
Also, any guesses on what’s next? Final Fantasy XVI, maybe?
