While the premise of a group of young people being shrunk to the size of an ant isn't exactly original, the developers at Obsidian Entertainment have done as much work as possible to give Grounded a twist on the traditional Honey I Shrunk the Kids formula. Following a group of four teenagers fighting to survive after they accidentally shrink themselves in their backyard, Grounded can be both a fun and terrifying experience as insects suddenly become apex predators. Grounded released for early access in 2020 and has been getting progressively better with each update. The game is set for full release in September 2022.
It seems that Grounded's successes won't just be tied to its release as a video game, as it has been reported recently that a TV series based on the survival game is in the works. Currently, it isn't known how closely the show will follow the plot of the game, but it is likely that it will feature a similar premise of the protagonists being shrunk down. According to Grounded's game director Adam Brennecke, the TV show will allow the biggest fans to explore more of the title's world, which includes a corporate conspiracy that some have connected to what makes the player characters small in the first place.

One other detail known about the upcoming Grounded TV series is that it will be helmed by Star Wars: Clone Wars writer Brent Friedman, while being directed by Brien Goodrich, whom gamers may know as the cinematics director for Halo 4 and 5.
