Noctua finally has an update on its next-gen NH-D15 CPU cooler and 140mm A-Series fans which are coming in the first half of 2024.
The next-gen Noctua NH-D15 cooler has been delayed on several occasions but the Austrian cooler manufacturer was transparent about why that's been the case.
The company showed its roadmap which essentially shows that the development of the next-gen 140mm A-series fan has been ongoing since 2015 and for the first six years, the company had to scratch the development off and go back to the drawing board to make sure that the fans were up to the mark and really meant what it takes to be a next-gen design. Only in 2020 did a finalized version begin development & we know that this was the time when COVID-19 had taken the world by storm.
So now in 2022, the company is on its path to finalizing the design and making sure that it's ready for production. Since the 140mm A-series fan is a vital component of the next-gen NH-D15 cooler, the fan incorporates the following features:
That leads us to the next-gen, or 2nd Gen as Noctua calls it, NH-D15 CPU cooler which is just as massive as one should expect it to be. The 2nd Gen Noctua NH-D15 cooler will feature the new 140mm A-series fans and adopt a tailored fin stack design with reduced fin pitch (1.6mm instead of 1.9mm), offer 20% more surface area, and incorporate 8 heat pipes instead of six. The cooler can be expected around Q2 2024 and will have a pricing of around $150 US while the 140mm A-series fans are going to be priced around $40-$50 US.
In addition to the NH-D15 2nd Gen and 140mm A-series fan cooling solutions, Noctua is also making brand new CPU coolers for next-gen AMD Threadripper chips. The new coolers are based on the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 and NH-D9
