Nintendo is using the forthcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet to release a limited-edition OLED Switch with a unique Pokemon design.
You'll have to take a deep breath before asking for this model in store because it's called the "Nintendo Switch OLED Model: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition system." The Switch dock will carry a Legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon design on the front and Poke Ball design on the back.
The rear of the Switch console features a design including the three new starter Pokemon (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly), while the Joy-Cons match the colors of the two new games, feature school emblems for Naranja Academy and Uva Academy on the front, and extend the design on the rear of the Switch when attached to it.
Other than the special casing designs, this is just a standard 7-inch OLED Switch. However, Nintendo hasn't missed the opportunity to make a bit more money from sales of what is obviously going to be a very popular console. We can expect to pay $359.99 for the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition of the system—$10 more than the standard OLED model.
Nintendo will offer this new Switch directly via the My Nintendo Store(Opens in a new window), but is also making stock available to retailers. You'll be able to purchase it on Nov. 4, with Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet launching on Nov. 18. The games will cost $59.99 each or can be purchased in a double pack for $119.99(Opens in a new window) (physically or digitally). Nintendo also released a new trailer for the games(Opens in a new window) today, detailing the multiple story paths you can take.
