A Nintendo Direct livestream has been announced for tomorrow, February 9, leaving many fans to wonder if there will be any new information on The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2. The last Nintendo livestream was the December 2021 Indie World Direct Showcase, which put the spotlight on many of the smaller indie games that are coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2022. While the much-hoped-for Hollow Knight: Silksong was notably absent, there's still hope forBOTW 2.
A direct sequel to 2017's critically acclaimed The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild was confirmed as early as 2019, but it wouldn't be until Nintendo's segment during E3 2021 that fans got actual gameplay footage and an official release date for the tentatively-titled Breath Of The Wild 2. Since then, Nintendo has been silent about what this new game will bring to the open-world format that made the first BOTW such a smash hit five years ago, to the point where Breath Of The Wild 2 was strangely missing from December's Game Awards 2021 livestream despite initial rumors that it would be featured during the annual gaming showcase. This hasn't stopped fans from speculating about BOTW 2's plot and gameplay, with some believing that the game will feature multiple playable characters along with improvements to the first game's already well-received exploration and item-crafting mechanics. Now, it appears that fans might not have to wait much longer for some more official news about the highly-anticipated Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2.
