Even though when most people hear the word Nintendo they think video games, the company has its hands in multiple forms of media, and appears to be set on expanding on that via an acquisition made this week. Nintendo has acquired a CG Company called Dynamo Pictures. Specialists in producing computer graphics for movies and TV shows.
Nintendo has released the documents revealing the finer details of the deal (via ResetEra) in which it states that the acquisition should be finalized by October 3 of this year. Once the acquisition is complete, Nintendo will own 100 percent of the company and Dynamo will be renamed Nintendo Pictures, not to be confused with Nintendo Studios which appears to be heavily involved with the upcoming Super Mario movie.

Speaking of the Mario movie, while Nintendo has not outlined specifics on what it has planned for Dynamo once the acquisition is complete, the most likely scenario is the CG studio will be working on TV shows and films. It's what the soon-to-be Nintendo Pictures is best known for having worked on Yuri on Ice and Ghost in the Shell in the past.
That doesn't mean Dynamo will definitely or exclusively be working on unannounced non-video game Nintendo projects, though. It also has a history of working on some pretty notable games since it was founded in 2011. CG for Final Fantasy 13-2, and motion capture work for Death Stranding and Persona 5, among others. It has even worked with Nintendo in the past, creating a series of Pikmin shorts for the Wii U and 3DS, as well as CG for Metroid: Other M's cutscenes.
