Netflix has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Russian Doll. The series, heavily inspired by the classic Bill Murray film Groundhog Day, was picked up for a second season back in 2019--and it's finally coming back on April 20.
It's not really a spoiler to reveal that after Season 1, Natasha Lyonne's (Orange is the New Black) game-developer Nadia Vulvokov--who repeatedly died and relived the night of her 36th birthday in an ongoing time loop--survived. But what's most vexing, intriguing, and exciting about Season 2 is that the show is continuing at all. In this new trippy trailer, not a whole lot is revealed, but Nadia learns that in escaping the previous loop, she may have wound up breaking time altogether. It's an inadvertently pretty relatable and timely theme as we're all still sorting out life since COVID--check the clip out below.
In addition to Lyonne, the Russian Doll's stars include Greta Lee (New Girl), Yul Vazquez (The Sopranos), Charlie Barnett (You), and Elizabeth Ashley (Treme). Russian Doll co-creator, writer, and showrunner Leslye Headland was tapped in 2020 to serve as showrunner and writer for an unnamed new Star Wars series. The series will take place in a different timeline than fans have seen before and will be a female-centric show.
