Nintendo has officially announced plans for its next Nintendo Direct event to be held in early March, but its focus will be on the Super Mario Bros. movie and not video games. Nintendo fans have a lot to be excited about through the rest of 2023. There are major AAA game releases for the Nintendo Switch, the Super Nintendo World theme park in Universal Studios Hollywood now being open to the public, and much more. Yet this upcoming March Nintendo Direct is going to be particularly special.
This won't be the first Nintendo Direct of 2023. On February 8, Nintendo held an event to showcase some of its biggest projects of 2023. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a major focus, but there were also reveals for a Metroid Prime remaster, a new Professor Layton game, and the addition of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles to the Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscriptions.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Will Be A Rather Short Adventure
The surprise is that the upcoming Nintendo Direct won't be focusing on the Nintendo Switch or any of the gaming platform's upcoming releases. Instead, Nintendo's presentation will be focused on a movie. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is slated to release on April 7 and Nintendo wants to build up some excitement for the film. The Nintendo Direct will officially air March 9 at 2:00 PM PT/5:00 PM ET.
As for the Nintendo Direct's contents, all that Nintendo is saying is that it will be debuting the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie during the presentation. If Nintendo planned to show just a trailer, it likely wouldn't be holding a Nintendo Direct to do so. As such, there may be some additional news about the movie that Nintendo shares as part of the event.
