New Assassin's Creed Game Setting Potentially Leaked
Assassin’s Creed is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, although it has not all been good news. The community has been celebrating with various online posts, while Ubisoft has announced that several older AC games will be getting online services shut down. It’s been a mixed bag, but Ubi is set to turn away from the past and reveal the future of the franchise come September.
Prior to this, there are about four projects rumored, reported, and/or confirmed to be in development. There’s Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a confirmed live-service project in development; there’s Assassin’s Creed Nexus, a reported VR game in development; there’s Assassin’s Creed Rift, a smaller game featuring Basim, said to be in development; and there are rumors about an AC1 Remake. However, the latest rumor may throw a wrench in what fans think is going down at Ubisoft.

Jeremy Penter, also known as ACG, has made a quick and simple post saying the next Assassin’s Creed game “will be Aztecs.” It’s short, sweet, and to the point, and while all rumors and leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, ACG has been right on Ubisoft projects in the past, such as Far Cry Primal. But without more context, it’s really hard to see how this fits into the grand scheme of things.
On the one hand, it should be noted that Aztecs, the city of Tenochtitlan, and Mesoamerica overall have been popular fan demands for years. It’s up there with a Japanese Assassin’s Creed game in fan hopes and desires, so it’s possible this is just an extension of that, depending on how ACG acquired this information.
