Battlefield 2042 is about to host its first-ever live-service event. Season 2: The Liquidators arrive next week with a close-quarters squad-based version Battlefield’s Conquest game mode as well as unique rewards for taking part.
The live-service event has been a long time in the making. Battlefield 2042 was originally supposed to receive these sorts of events soon after its launch last year, but an absolutely disastrous release forced DICE to shelve its live-service ambitions to fix 2042's myriad technical and gameplay issues. Nearly a year later, those issues are largely solved, so that means it's time for 2042 to get back on track with its first event.

Season 2: The Liquidators will run from October 11 to October 25. Players will form smaller squads in a new game mode called Tactical Conquest to fight on smaller versions of Arica Harbor, Breakaway, Caspian Border, Discarded, Renewal, and Stranded which have been redesigned to focus on close-quarters combat. Just like in Conquest, the name of the game is to deplete the opposing squads of tickets by capturing and defending three flags.
"When a competitor threatens their business, the Dark Market sends their Liquidators - a vicious hit squad that specializes in 'involuntary asset liquidation,' reads EA's site. "Your job is to dissolve enemy squads from the Battlefield and capture areas critical to the Dark Market's bottom line."
