Naughty Dog has shown how it’s updating one of key supporting characters in The Last of Us for the game’s upcoming remake.
In the tweet below, the studio compares Joel’s smuggling partner Tess in the 2013 PS3 original with the ‘glowed up’ version of the character appearing in The Last of Us Part 1.
“Annie Wersching destroyed us with her performance as Tess,” said Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann. “Love that we get to better show off her acting chops with Part I!”

Following a series of leaks, The Last of Us Part 1 was officially announced during last week’s Summer Game Fest showcase.
Promising a faithful reproduction of the original title with modernised gameplay and controls, plus improved accessibility options, it’s coming to PS5 this September and is also in development for PC.

Sony also confirmed three editions of the game and pre-order bonuses, although the $100 Firefly Edition quickly sold out.
Naughty Dog revealed the first concept art for its standalone The Last of Us multiplayer game last week too.
Druckmann said the title is as big as any of the studio’s single-player games. It has its own story, a brand-new cast of characters, and more information is scheduled to be revealed in 2023.
The writer and creative director behind The Last of Us games and Uncharted 4 also confirmed that he’s directing a new game.
