Warning! Spoilers ahead for My Hero Academia Chapter 340!
Ever since Deku accepted the traitor Yuga Aoyama, My Hero Academia fans began speculating that the young hero in training might actually have an ulterior motive, making him as bad as the villain All For One. But hero professor Shota Aizawa just cast aside all doubt.
Not yet officially released in English by Viz Media, Chapter 340 shows Aizawa trying to get a handle on how Yuga feels about his entire unfortunate predicament, especially in regards to him possibly fighting against All For One. Aizawa first tells the traitor that he must fight with them even though Yuga would rather just disappear, before making his shocking statement. In the unofficial translation, Aizawa admits that they—most likely hero society—are no different from All For One since they are essentially using him like a pawn for their own self interest. But what sets Aizawa apart from the villain is that he would also rather not have Yuga living with regret for the rest of his life.

What helped convince many fans that Deku only forgave Yuga so hero society could use him as a double against All For One were actually the shortcomings of Katsuki Bakugo. As Deku began telling Yuga his reasons why he could forgive him, Bakugo thinks, "Deku! I get it now!!" Of course, there was nothing to get. Deku had already proven himself capable of forgiving traitors including Lady Nagant. He still found some good in her even though she was hunting him down for All For One. So, when Deku told Yuga that he didn't think that someone should be labeled a villain for one mistake, he obviously meant it.
