The race to be the first one has begun! Soon after Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Motorola along with a couple of other brands claimed using this chip on their flagship. However, Motorola will be the first one in the world, announcing a launch event on December 9 for the Motorola Edge X30 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The Motorola Edge X30 will be the first phone in the world to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and will launch in Chin for now. Motorola's teaser does not reveal any other features and specs yet, although we will get to know more over the next 2 weeks. The Edge X30 is also rumoured to be accompanied by another Edge series model.
Motorola is yet to reveal the exact specifications of this device. That said, rumours have long pointed out at a fill-blown flagship with some corners cut. Leaks have suggested the presence of a 6.67-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display is said to house an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as a 60MP selfie camera.
Other features on this Motorola flagship could include a 5000mAh battery with 68W fast charging, a triple rear 50MP + 50MP + 2MP camera setup, up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. Compared to the Edge 20 Pro, Motorola seems to have dropped the telephoto camera from this model.
Motorola is also expected to launch another Edge device, likely to be called the Edge S30. This one is said to be based on the recently launched Moto G200 and will use the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. These devices are also expected to make global debut later in 2022.
There's no knowledge of an Indian availability yet but Motorola tends to customize its phones for our shores. Hence, we could see upgraded versions of these phones later on 2022.
