While it's not one of the biggest franchises from Nintendo, the Earthbound series, or Mother in Japan, is certainly one of the most beloved. It's a franchise that has plenty of charm and characters that also tackles some dark subjects from time to time. While the games are still beloved, they have been quite hard to play officially, especially in regard to Mother 3. Despite its acclaim, this third entry in the Mother series has never received an official localization, remaining exclusive to Japan.
While the game has become infamous for never getting an official English release, there have been plenty of fan-made translations of Mother 3 that have helped introduce newer gamers to this classic JRPG. It's no surprise that a niche game like this ended up generating a large cult following, but it is odd that this audience has yet to get an English release. Despite this, over 15 years later, fans are still pushing Nintendo to bring this beloved game over to the West in an official capacity. This same hope has been shared by Shinichi Kameoka, a producer on Mother 3.

In an interview with Nintendo Everything, Kameoka was asked about his time working on the series, as well as any hopes he has about Mother 3. He explained that, much like other fans, he'd also love to see Mother 3 get re-released in both the US and European regions. «As a lover of games, I will continue to wait for Mother 3's worldwide release,» Kameoka stated.
