Garangolm is a new beast in Monster Hunter Rise that players encounter in the swamps of Elgado's Citadel. Garangolm resembles a gorilla, but is covered in an algae-encrusted, plated shell that protects it from attacks. It also has a long, pronged tail which it swings at players who get too close. Garangolm is one of the Three Lords of Elgado, joining Monster Hunter Rise's Elder Dragon Malzeno and Lunagaron in protecting the Citadel.
Garangolm is a fanged beast in Monster Hunter Rise that uses fire and water to attack players. Garangolm attacks players by pounding the ground around him, swiping, and charging, but can use both Fireblight and Waterblight to damage players; Fireblight slowly reduces health over time, and Waterblight reduces stamina over time. After a few attacks, Garangolm becomes enraged and uses the fire and water attacks. When Fireblight is active, Garangolm changes to a deep red color. At this stage, Garangolm jumps around the stage trying to smash players from above.

Garangolm can spontaneously grow plants on its body that harness both fire and water. As a result, his right arm glows red with fire, while his left arm drips water off the algae and moss that grow there, allowing him to deal fire and water attacks together. Additionally, players should try to avoid Garangolm's powerful physical attacks; coupled with Fireblight and Waterblight, Garangolm is an intimidating fight.
