Mo'Nique and Lee Daniels, star and director of the Oscar-winning film Precious respectively, have reconciled after a long-standing feud, Mo'Nique won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Precious and since then has appeared in The Mo'Nique Show and Bessie, for which she received an Emmy nomination. Since Precious, Daniels has directed such films as The Paperboy, The Butler, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday, as well as created the television series Empire.
Based on the novelPush by Sapphire, Precious follows the titular character (Gabourey Sidibe) as she lives through poverty and parental abuse by her mother (Mo'Nique). The film would go on to receive critical acclaim and the endorsements of Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry who helped promote the film. Preciouswould go on to become one of the most acclaimed films of the 2000s. Despite all the praise and her subsequent Oscar win, Mo'Nique professed after the release of Precious that she didn't feel as if she received the recognition she deserved from the industry. This led to Daniels telling Mo'Nique that she had been "blackballed" from the industry, spurring the years-long feud between the pair.

Now, according to the LA Times, Daniels made an appearance at Mo'Nique's comedy show this past Friday and publicly apologized to her, ending their feud that began shortly after Precious was made. The two then hugged on stage and said "I love you" to one another. Daniels then announced that he would direct Mo'Nique again in his upcoming film Demon House for Netflix, an exorcism horror film.
