The clip points out that the writing system actually comes from a 2001 side-scroller called Commander Keen, which is a game that Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson is known to be a fan of. Each character in the writing system is directly tied to a letter in the English alphabet, meaning that the writing in the enchanting tables can be deciphered to uncover coherent words. The writing system is formally called the “Standard Galactic Alphabet” and is a substitution cipher for the Latin alphabet. Although the Standard Galactic Alphabet is prevalent in the Minecraft enchanting tables, the actual meanings of the translations have almost nothing to do with the powerful Minecraft enchantments
