An animated television show based on the blockbuster Minecraft series is coming to Netflix.
Variety reports that the project is being created by Canadian studio WildBrain; that outfit has worked on other animated shows for Netflix, including Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising and Carmen Sandiego.
"We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve joined forces with Netflix to produce an animated series set in our blocky universe," Mojang senior creative writer Per Landin wrote on the company's website.
"The series will tell an original story with new characters and reflect the world of Minecraft in a new light."
Alongside this animated show, there's a live-action film in the works, though that has been the case since February 2014 so who knows when it'll finally come out. The latest is that it is set to release in 2025, featuring the talents of Jack Black, Jason Momoa and Jennifer Coolidge.
Netflix has also released Minecraft: Story Mode interactive show in 2018, though the series was removed from the platform in 2022.
