Meta Quest 2 Headsets Are Getting a Price Hike, Fans Are Not Happy

The VR market is not nearly as niche as many think, as many game developers praise the Quest 2 and this particular aspect of the industry has impressive sales, and more and more competition is emerging. Sony’s PS VR2 is highly anticipated, for example, with the company showing off more and more of it as time moves on. With this competition in mind, it’s somewhat strange that Meta has announced a new price hike for the VR headset.

The official Meta Quest Twitter account has announced that its Quest 2 headsets will cost $100 more beginning on August 1. The Quest 2 128GB headset will now retail for $399.99, while the 256GB one will sale at $499.99. This is the same exact price point as the PS5 digital edition and standard edition, respectively, and it means the 256GB one is the same price as an Xbox Series X, while the 128GB one is more expensive than the Xbox Series S. The price of refurbished models and even accessories will be updated based on this new price, as well.
It should be noted that anyone who purchases a new Meta Quest 2 headset will also be able to grab Beat Saber, one of its most popular VR games, at no cost.
