With the disbanding of The Avengers following the events of Endgame, there's been a bit of a power vacuum in the MCU as far as teams are concerned. Sure, the Eternals are around and a pretty big family unit, and we've got both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four around the corner, but where does that leave the heroes who are already kicking around the disparate corners of the shared universe?
Enter: The Thunderbolts. Announced back at SDCC, the Thunderbolts are poised to be a new team for the MCU, made up of anti-heroes, villains, and morally dubious do-gooders who have been skulking around through multiple movies and TV shows. The official line-up, as of right now, is as follows:
Checkout the concept art shared at the panel below.
Notably missing from the list is Daniel Bruhl, who has played Baron Zemo across Captain America: Civil War and Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Zemo is one of the many leaders and masterminds behind the Thunderbolts team in the comics--and he's still very much active in the MCU--so it wouldn't be surprising for him to crop up somewhere. Also missing from the list is Goliath, played by Laurence Fishburne, who was last seen with Ghost at the end of Ant-Man and The Wasp.
We've already seen some hints of the Thunderbolts' formation in various MCU TV shows and movies as Valentina has been working with John Walker and Florence Pugh already--but to unknown ends.
Thunderbolts will be directed by Jake Schreier. It is set to be released in July of 2024.
