Fans have begun to mock Marvel online for failing to address the cataclysmic events from the finale of Eternals. Eternals hit theaters last November, failing with critics, who made it the MCU's first Rotten film on Rotten Tomatoes with a 47%. However, audiences were kinder, still turning out to see the Chloé Zhao-directed superhero ensemble, which earned over $402 million worldwide. Eternals was also bolstered by a stellar cast, with Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, and Brian Tyree Henry.
In Eternals, the team discovers that Earth is threatened by an impending Emergence, which is the destruction of the planet through the birth of a new Celestial from a seed within Earth that has been feeding off the population. The film's end sees the new Celestial, Tiamut, begin to break out of the Earth with a hand and part of its head exposed in the ocean. Luckily, the Eternals are able to stop Timaut, freezing the Celestial in place, either killing it or leaving it dormant. However, that is where the Celestial is left, still partially exposed, essentially redefining Earth's geography via a world-altering event.

MCU fans have taken to Twitter recently to call out Marvel's failure to acknowledge the Emergence from Eternals in the projects that have since followed. User @mcwm posted a picture of Tiamut's partially exposed form from the film's finale, saying, «there have now been three Marvel movies that have taken place since Eternals, and somehow no one has once mentioned how the Earth now has this dude sticking out of it.» While some users agreed, many humorously tried to rationalize it, like Jeff D.
