After a recent lack of updates, Marvel's Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has finally detailed the next chapter of the superhero slugfest. The multiplayer Marvel experience was divisive when it released back in September 2020, with gamers praising its combat system and storyline but criticizing its microtransactions, technical issues and lack of endgame content. Marvel's Avengers added Spider-Man on November 30, alongside a brand-new endgame raid, but that update was the game's most recent piece of new content.
After the title's rocky launch, Crystal Dynamics remained committed to supporting Marvel's Avengers with various post-launch content. The game released with a single story campaign and six playable Avengers, but since then three story expansions have each introduced a new member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, like Black Panther and Kate Bishop. Spider-Man even joined the game's roster, though exclusively on PlayStation consoles, bringing the title's total lineup to ten heroes. However, these updates was not enough to revitalize the titleor its playerbase. This led to rumors that the game would cease development in 2022, despite Crystal Dynamics teasing a Marvel's Avengers 2022 content roadmap before the new year.
