Iron Man has no shortage of suits in Marvel's Avengers highlighting Tony Stark's history of ingenuity, but his latest suit channels something he has no normal association with — magic. It joins the list of more modern suits Crystal Dynamics has used from the comics to outfit their heroes taken from arcs such as Original Sin and Planet Hulk or character redesigns, including Jane Foster's transition from The Mighty Thor to Valkyrie. Iron Man's latest suit is a blend of both as it highlights one of Marvel's 2019 arcs, The War of the Realms, which saw Thor's home of Asgard come under threat from one of the god's oldest enemies.
The War of the Realms was a 2019 crossover arc that saw the return of the dark elf Malekith the Accursed as he launched a full-scale invasion of Asgard and Earth to complete his conquest of the nine realms. Given the focus on Asgard and Malekith, Thor and Jane Foster were central to the story as it was the former's home and the latter's source of power, which came under threat from this latest invasion. Plenty of other recognizable faces, including Doctor Strange and The Fantastic Four, were on hand to offer the God of Thunder aid in his latest fight.

It was Iron Man's own adventures during this crossover, though, which Crystal Dynamics turned to for his newest suit in Marvel's Avengers. The suit in question debuted in issue 13 of Tony Stark: Iron Man, where the titular hero did battle with Sadurang, a dragon and sorcerer who learned under the powerful Dormammu. Sadurang was recruited by Malekith to destroy Iron Man to ensure he couldn't aid Thor, leading to Sadurang's magic infecting Iron Man's suit and transmuting it to have a more knightly
