This March, Agents of SHIELD will be joining the rest of the MCU on Disney+. The series has been living on Netflix for years, separate from the rest of Marvel's theatrical content and growing number of miniseries. This marks the first time that all of the MCU content will be on one streaming platform.
Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen created Agents of SHIELD in 2013. Following the success of The Avengers in 2012, the show took the movie's most endearing character, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), and put him at the center of the series. After miraculously surviving Loki's scepter stab and apparent death in the movie, Coulson leads a team of SHIELD agents as they follow up on paranormal activity ranging from aliens to the super-powered Inhumans. The show opened to strong ratings in 2013 but then struggled in ratings, partly due to scheduling troubles like being moved from Tuesday to Friday nights halfway through the show's run. Still, the Agents of SHIELD's streaming numbers show a strong following.
