Unique and diverse maps play a major part in any Mario Kart entry. These fantastical racecourses have a tenuous relationship with the laws of logic, gravity, and physics, allowing for a number of fun and seemingly impossible stunts from players. These courses are also typically filled with secret paths and shortcuts, which can give experienced or detail-oriented racers a competitive edge. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's collection of maps is constantly expanding, as Nintendo has promised to add a total of forty-eight new courses to the game by the end of 2023. These courses are remastered versions of ones from prior Mario Kart games and are releasing in waves, although Mario Kart players can pre-load the DLC courses ahead of their official rollout.

One of these new courses appears to contain a tricky bug for players to watch out for. According to the YouTube channel Gaming Reinvented (via Nintendo Life), racers who shoot off a particular ramp too soon can find themselves landing atop a sign. In most cases, they can simply slide off, potentially losing their position in the race as a result of their impatience.
