Lord of the Rings Online is a long-running game with many players still committed to its wonderful recreation of Middle-earth and cast of elves, dwarves, men and hobbits. Now, as the game is celebrating its 15th anniversary, many of the MMORPG's expansions are to become free permanently, among other changes.
Developer Standing Stone is making expansions such as Seige of Mirkwood, Rise of Isengard, Mines of Moria, Riders of Rohan, and Helm's Deep completely free, while VIP subscribers will have the chance to play recent add-ons Mordor, Minas Morgul, and War of the Three Peak for free as well.

Premium classes such as the High Elf race are becoming free for all players, with the choice of Captain, Champion, Guardian, Hunter, Lore-master, Minstrel, Rune-keeper, Warden, or Brawler. All players will have the chance to select Beorning as their character too now.
In addition, the developers Standing Stone Games will be adding a new Hobbit area called Yondershire, which will be home to reclusive hobbits. This new area is a "sparsely populated region of moor, thicket, and fen that has long been home to Hobbit recluses and troublemakers", according to the devs. The folks of Yondershire have squabbled with the more comfortable parts of the Shire since the time of Bullroarer Took, according to Standing Stone, and players can experience new Hobbit stories in the first expansion of the Shire in some time.
All these changes will come in Update 33 which is expected late April, and will kick off the game's 15th anniversary celebrations.
