The Witcher fans have been waiting a long time for the reveal of a new mainline game in the franchise. Though there have been other games related to The Witcher universe such as the card game Gwent, and a TV adaptation of the original books has recently released its second season, it has been almost seven years since fans first got their hands on The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. With the third game completing Geralt's story though, many wondered if there even would be another Witcher open-world RPG.
Much to the surprise and joy of Witcher fans though, developer CD Projekt Red recently revealed a teaser image for the upcoming Witcher game. While many were labeling this game as The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red has since confirmed that the project will not be called The Witcher 4. At the moment, there's no official comment on what the game's title will be, as CD Projekt Red is mostly keeping fans in the dark in terms of details, only giving small teasers here and there.
New Witcher Game Confirmed To Be in Development on Unreal Engine 5
Recently though, another interesting piece of information has dropped on the new Witcher title. The teaser image revealing the game showed a Witcher medallion buried in snow. It was clear to many that this medallion didn't belong to the School of the Wolf, and some believed it was a medallion of the School of the Cat. However, global community director Marcin Momot has confirmed that the medallion belongs to neither school, and is instead of the School of the Lynx.
The School of the Lynx is a lesser known Witcher school in comparison to that of the Wolf and Cat. Mostly, the School of the Lynx is linked to Witcher fan-fiction, meaning that the games will likely be straying even further from the original
