If you own iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone SE 1st Gen, then you should know that your phone use-by date is nearing its end. Yes, iOS 16 will not be supported by Apple on these phones. In fact, iOS 15, which came last year, will be the last software update for these iPhone models.
So, why is Apple trying to kill off its old faithful phones that are owned by millions of people? Well, while there is always a need to sell more phones, the real reason is that these smartphones ' tech is outdated and they will not be able to run the iOS 16 and its fancy new updates which demand a lot of resources. These resources are obviously not there in the old phones. Also, since security is the biggest issue these days for both personal data and financial transactions, these old smartphones will be very easy to hack into. As such, there will be no guarantee of security possible. Not just that, it has come to light time and again that loading a new iOS version on old phones generally makes them slower and also makes batteries drain out quicker.
In fact, even with iOS 16, there are reports that some of the users who downloaded the beta version have seen their batteries start draining out faster. It is early days yet and more glitches may present themselves as the more and more people try the new version.
However, that will be of no solace to owners of iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone SE 1st Gen as they will not be able to try out the fancy new features that Apple has rolled out just days ago.
All they can do is try and make them last as long as possible, but ultimately, their fate has already been decided by Apple.
