In Edo era Japan, players are a shinobi named Oboromaru who is tasked with rescuing someone from an enemy castle, while in the Wild West the Sundown Kid has been asked to take on the outlaws known as the Crazy Bunch. In the Middle Ages a hero called Oersted is on a mission to fight a great evil, while in the present day Masaru Takahara is on a mission to be the best fighter in the world. Skip ahead to the near future and mind reader Akira discovers a dark plot by a group called the Crusaders. Finally, the distant future the support unit Cube is caught up in a tale of survival.
In our Live A Live review, Reuben wrote, “Live A Live is hands down one of the most interesting games I’ve experienced in a while. A neat little package made up of completely disparate elements, it shouldn’t work but it does. Add in some truly clever gameplay mechanics, the gorgeous HD-2D visuals and phenomenal soundtrack, and you have a game I would urge any JRPG fan to play.”
