The third game in the Little Nightmares series has been announced.
A trailer for Little Nightmares 3 was shown during the Opening Night Live presentation at Gamescom.
“Are you ready to return to the Nowhere, little ones?” a blurb for the trailer reads. “This time, face your childhood fears together.”
Unlike the first two games, however, Little Nightmares 3 will not be developed by Tarsier, and will instead be handled by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry.
In February 2021, Tarsier – which was acquired by Embracer Group in 2019 – said it would no longer be working on the series and was instead focused on a new IP.
Tarsier boss Andreas Johnsson said at the time: “For the last 6 years, our mission at Tarsier Studios has been to create mesmerizing worlds. Little Nightmares was our first attempt and was a huge success. I personally love how Little Nightmares has gathered fans around the world over the course of the last 4 years.

“From the fan art, extensive fan theories and genuine reactions, it all has been amazing to witness. Our collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has been extremely satisfying, they listened to our creative vision and took our crazy ideas and ambitions to heart.
“That being said, it is bitter sweet to announce that we are leaving the world of Little Nightmares behind us. Little Nightmares will always be dear to us at the studio.”
In a separate statement at the time, Bandai Namco said it was “energised” to take the series forwards.
