The schema system in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 allows Lightning to rapidly change her combat abilities on the fly. Central to this power are the many garbs Lightning can find and equip throughout the game. Knowing which garb to use, when to change, and pairing them with the correct weapons is essential to completing Lightning's quest.

Lightning gets new garbs from Hope at the beginning of certain days. Be sure to check with him each time you visit the Ark when a new day begins.
Many of the garbs available are purchased with Gil at the shops located throughout the world. Here are all the outfits Lightning can get with cold, hard cash. Note that some garbs are only available if you're playing on Hard Mode. Additionally, some garb only becomes available for purchase after a certain number of days have passed.

Forge, the proprietor of Red Dragon Outfitters, randomly changes his location starting on Day 3. He can appear anywhere at any time, and there is no way to predict where or when he will set up shop. Look for his icon on the map and try to catch him before he moves on. He often has powerful garb much earlier than the other outfitters, if you can afford it.
