In another surprising turn of events, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has sold the second most physical game copies this year, beating out one of the biggest games of 2022 thus far.
Only a few hours after the game launched,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga had the highest Steam player count of any LEGO or Star Wars games ever. 24 hours after its release LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga had a peak player count of 82,517 players on Steam. This is an impressive feat when one considers the popularity of both licenses, the next closest Star Wars game was Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, which peaked at 46,550. The second most played LEGO game didn't even come near LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, only had a peak of around 6,000 players.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga also enjoyed impressive physical sales numbers, as the game sold more physical copies in the UK during its launch week than Elden Ring. The game ended up only being beaten out by Pokémon Legends: Arceus in physical sales in its launch week. One of the reasons that the latest iteration of LEGO Star Wars beat Elden Ring in physical sales is likely owing to the fact that the game had its biggest launch on Nintendo Switch, where physical copies still sell better than digital games.
