The latest round of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC was just released yesterday, and it features some Star Wars minifigures from the '90s in addition to the cast of the 2016 spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Skywalker Saga already comes with an impressive roster of 300 playable characters at launch, and TT Games has promised to expand this number even further through DLC character packs pulled from various shows and films from the Star Wars universe. Day One saw the addition of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s Trooper Pack as a pre-order bonus and subsequent expansions brought the casts from Solo: A Star Wars and the first season of The Mandalorian into the fray.
One particular LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC character turned heads when it was released as a pre-order bonus alongside the aforementioned Trooper Pack: a classic-style Obi-Wan Kenobi minifigure from A New Hope complete with the old yellow LEGO skin tone. When LEGO first began releasing Star Wars-themed sets in the late '90s, the minifigures had the same yellow completion that the company’s original offerings still do to this day, with LEGO switching to more character-accurate flesh colors from 2005’s Revenge Of The Sith line onward. All of the subsequent LEGO Star Wars games reflected this change, making the retro Obi-Wan’s inclusion in The Skywalker Saga a blast of nostalgia for older gamers who grew up playing with the original Star Wars LEGO sets.
