For those who are into all things spooky when it comes to gaming, there's been a lot on display lately. Gamescom 2022 has revealed a number of horror games, including new trailers for The Outlast Trials, The Callisto Protocol, and the announcement of both Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2's first major story DLC «Bloody Ties.» On top of all this, Bloober Team's upcoming title Layers of Fears has also been given some screen time at Gamescom's Future Games Show, with its first gameplay trailer being shown off.
The next entry in the studio's darkly psychological series, Layers of Fears will build off the previous two installments and will have a new story with all the themes of madness and near-psychedelic first-person horror fans have come to expect. The trailer has a brooding atmosphere, with the voice of a soft-spoken woman talking about a piano, which sets the tone. There are also brief moments that show the actual gameplay itself, with that «haunted house» vibe that many will already be familiar with. Those who enjoy the work of Bloober will no doubt be excited for this next installment.
Bloober Team Teases New Layer of Fear Game
The developer announced Layers of Fears at Summer Game Fest a couple of months ago, with this new game being made in Unreal Engine 5. There had been rumors in the past that the team was getting ready to reveal something, with an image posted to Twitter that teased the studio's next project. Given that this image depicted a heavily scratched painting of a face, a lot of fans most likely assumed it was going to be a new Layers of Fear game. Currently, there is no release date for it, but it's expected to hit PC and current-gen consoles early next year.
