Being an NIS JRPG, there's a certain degree of expectancy from fans that La Pucelle: Ragnarok, the remastered version of the original La Pucelle Tactics that's finally reached Western shores, is going to blow folks away with its intricate systems and opportunities to turn your party into walking deities.

Happily, La Pucelle: Ragnarok does just that. The various systems fit together like a glove, including the deceptively (somewhat) different matters of stat-building and obtaining stat level skills. The tutorials touch up on this admirably, but in all likelihood, you'll be playing this game for dozens of hours. Let's cover the subject more thoroughly, shall we?
They say pictures are worth a thousand words. We'd be out of jobs here if that were always the case, but screenshots sure can come in handy. Please note the above image. Your characters' stat levels are located on the right side. Stat values, on the other hand, are — you guessed it — on the left side.
You can think of stat values as the sort of thing you'll find in most RPGs. Our novice-tier Prier here is only level five. That's her character level, which of course rises as she gains experience points. Her stat values are below that. Her Attack stat is 62, her Defense is 28, so on and so forth. This means that every time an enemy hits her physically, her Defense of 28 is factored into damage proceedings. Very few exceptions arise.
Ditto her 62 Attack during physical altercations of her own design. Her Speed of 29, her Intelligence of 22 for magic-casting, it's all there, and it's all what you might expect to find in games as diverse across the genre as Final Fantasy 9 and Baldur's Gate 3.
