Konami is set to launch a new Bomberman game for Apple Arcade this week, complete with music-infused gameplay.
Amazing Bomberman(Opens in a new window) will be playable on Aug. 5(Opens in a new window), but anyone loading the game expecting a classic Bomberman gameplay experience is in for a shock. Konami added a music element to the stages, allowing them to react to the song being played.
As you play, the sound effects for the bomb placement and explosions will change with the songs, as will the battle time. When a song gets "exciting," blocks will drop on to the stage which can be destroyed with bombs to reveal new items. The gameplay video reveals a much more dynamic play experience, which arguably could turn some Bomberman fans off playing.
Bomberman can be "blown away" during play, but with unlimited revives it's not of great consequence. Konami also added a multiplayer element to allow up to four players (from around the world) to compete for the highest score during one song. The player with the current high score has a spotlight placed on their Bomberman, and other players managing to blow them up will score bonus points.
For those who prefer single-player games, Amazing Bomberman includes a range of missions to complete and customization items to collect. Also, because this is an Apple Arcade title, there's no monetization or DLC to worry about—you get the full game to play at your leisure. And if you'd like to listen to the music separately, Konami uploaded a "music for study and work" video(Opens in a new window) to YouTube that includes 29 minutes of Amazing Bomberman tracks.
