Konami has announced a new retro compilation celebrating its ’80s and ’90s era Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) titles.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection consists of 13 separate games, covering releases on arcade, NES, SNES, Mega Drive / Genesis and Game Boy.
The compilation is being developed in collaboration with retro experts Digital Eclipse, and will include a number of new quality-of-life features aimed at modern players.
These include the ability to create save states, the option to rewind the game at any point and button mapping.
The full list of titles included is as follows:
Every game will include both the western and Japanese versions (except for TMNT arcade and the NES version of Tournament Fighters, which didn’t have Japanese versions).
Online multiplayer has also been added for four titles: the arcade versions of TMNT and Turtles in Time, the SNES version of TMNT Tournament Fighters, and The Hyperstone Heist on Mega Drive.
As is the norm for other Digital Eclipse titles, the collection will also include an extensive Museum mode which provides previously unseen development art, sketches and game design material.
According to Konami, it will also “include loads of extras using imagery from the original cartoons, comics and other historic TMNT media content […] connecting the franchise across the various mediums.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will be released both physically and digitally later this year, priced $39.99, on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, PS4 and Steam.
