A new rumor suggests that Kojima Productions, the studio led by industry icon Hideo Kojima, will soon be acquired by PlayStation. After splitting from publisher Konami in 2015, the studio's first independent game was the PlayStation-exclusive sci-fi adventure Death Stranding. Recently two new games from Hideo Kojima have been teased, and it seems that these titles may be released under the PlayStation Studios banner.
Following the massively successful tactical espionage action series Metal Gear, Death Stranding was a wholly original venture for Hideo Kojima. The unique title focuses on traversal, with players using high-tech gadgets to help deliver packages in a post-apocalyptic environment. While the PlayStation-exclusive title was a departure for Kojima, its innovative gameplay and cinematic story has made gamers desperate to learn about the auteur's next project. Kojima Productions apparently has two games in development, one widely accessible AAA action title and another more experimental venture. According to rumors this radically original project could be a Hideo Kojima game on PSVR 2, and the use of PlayStation's new virtual reality technology would support claims of strong ties with the company.
